After years of political instability and working for different international organizations, I decided to come back to what I always wanted to do, in simple words, design.

Since I was a child I have been inspired by my own cultural heritage and arts. Growing up in Nepal and traveling gave me the opportunity to experience the country's cultural diversity, embracing love for Nepali traditional colorful lines and patterns. Creativity and passion is what guide me to new forms and colors. My husband being Italian gave me the great opportunity to explore Italian fashion and design in Turin, Milan, Rome and Venice.

I founded "Paila" just before the April earthquake hit our country and the idea remained to create a shoe brand which could represent Nepal's cultural heritage and identity by revisiting and re-imagining traditions. Not only a shoe with a Nepali face but a shoe entirely made in Nepal with main components manufactured by artisans of our country.

"Paila" it is not just a pair of shoes! It is your step to promote local economy, skills, culture and arts of Nepal!

After several years working in Nepal with various international organizations, mainly as Peace Observer, I decided to support my wife and come back also to what I like. During my 20s my dream was to study at "Accademia di Comunicazione" in Milan and became a TV commercial director but it was an highly expensive top private school. So I turned later my studies and specialization towards Political Science & Conflict Management.

I did not want to give up so I obtained during year 2000 a technical diploma in Visual Communication at "Istituto Fellini" in Turin. During same time I used to volunteer at the "Turin Film Festival" a festival made for young film makers. I started to love taking care of media communication & advertising, I was intern in an important advertising agency and for about an year and half I worked with a video production & post-production studio where I learnt a lot . Today I support my wife on Brand development & communication for Paila Shoes using all my set of skills and experience.

In Italy we believe elegance is beauty and simplicity, we try with Paila Shoes also to do the same.
